Ripping it up!

Yep, this is real life, if you can't tell from the pictures, those are the jeans I was wearing in our show last Friday and just happened to rip a nice hole during the first song of the third set. So basically I had to sing on stage for a whole 45 minutes with everything just hanging out. And of course I just happened to be wearing orange underwear that looked just like my skin tone so it pretty much looked like I was naked underneath. Let's just say I'm not that surprised it happened, stuff like this happens to me all the time so I was just waiting for it and there it is! During the show when it actually happened we barely made it through the whole song because we were all laughing so hard and then to get through a whole set with it like that was pretty awesome, All I can say is that my true professionalism had to come out to make it through. I also should have known this was going to happen because I had these exact same pants before and they ripped in this exact same spot just from putting them on one day so I took them back and traded them for a new pair, needless to say I will not be getting another pair like this ever again.

All in all it was still a good night, there was a staff party for the whole hotel and after that was over they all came up to the club so we had a packed house and it was a blast!

On our day off on Saturday we actually went and did something! We went out with one of the other bands, the one that's on probation, and had dinner and then went to another club to watch another band. It was probably one of the most fun nights I have had since coming to Oman. The two singers from the other band remind me so much of my friends back home so it was nice to hang out with people like that, I had such a blast! Hopefully we can do it again because that will definitely help pass the time!

Besides that things are going normally, just the usual. I hope everyone is having a great long weekend! Happy Memorial Day!

Cool Air

Finally finally finally my air got fixed! I finally have a place where I can get some relief from the heat! Ah I am so happy! It feels amazing to have air conditioning again! Whew what a nice change.
In other news, last night we had the biggest and best crowd we've had since we've been here. Just to give you an idea how good it was, the highest revenue the club had done previously while we've been here was about 3,000 Rial in one night and last night we did more than 5,000! The dance floor was packed and it was a good time. It makes it a lot hotter in the club when it gets that packed but I didn't even mind because it's so much more fun! Besides that things are all the same. Tomorrow should be a nice relaxing day off as usual and I am looking forward to it! I hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!

GOOD NEWS!!!

Well I don't have too much to post, the shows have been alright, we got them to move the couches so that people will dance more, and it's still freaking hot. My air conditioner is supposedly getting fixed tomorrow but we'll see.
And now to the good news, we found out our last night of shows is going to be July 29Th now and we have to leave by the 30Th because that's when our new Visa's will be up!! Wooohooooo!!! So now I'm going to fix my countdown calendar for the 30Th of July, that just made my whole day! I hope everyone is having a good week!

Monday Monday

Well it's another Monday here in Oman. The only thing different about this Monday is that I'm finally in the 60s on my countdown clock! Woohoo!! It's getting so close, yet so far away. Anyway it's just getting hotter and hotter here and still no air conditioning for me. I've sent 3 forms in and still nothing. Lately I've been sleeping out in the living room but as soon as the sun starts coming up then I wake up and have to go back in my room in the heat, not really ideal. I don't know what else to do to get them to fix it because they tell me every time that they'll send someone right away but then they just don't. How can I argue with that when they pretend to be so accommodating? But I'm trying to deal with it, it just sucks being so hot and uncomfortable all day long. Also there is no cold water because of the heat so I can't even take a nice cool shower to cool down! This place is CRAZY!
Besides that I found out some other odd information the other day. So one of the other bands that we went and saw here had a girl in it that was just awful and come to find out they had actually fired her back in March but she had to stay and finish out her contract. Well anyway I found out two days ago that she was hired by our company and is now in the band playing in Malaysia! I just don't understand why they would hire someone so bad when supposedly they have thousands of singers audition every month. I mean yes she has experience doing it but if she was bad enough to get fired than why would El-Live hire her? So ridiculous, I guess I'll never understand, nor do I really need to because I'm out of here soon!!
Anyway the last couple nights the crowds have been pretty small and also the club got some new furniture which will now make it even harder for us to get people up dancing. They moved in three new couches and faced them away from the stage so the people sitting there won't even be able to watch us. Then they got rid of a bunch of the standing tables and the stools, so now people are going to just lounge around rather than get up and dance so that's going to make our job a little more difficult. Well I think that's all I've got for now, Happy Monday!

This Week

Well another normal week here in Oman. Just the usual every day things like always. The shows have had a lot better crowds this week though so that's a plus! I hope that lasts for a little while but I'm just happy and taking it as it comes!
Besides that things with the company are getting a little annoying. It's like no matter how good a band is, Georges is never happy. He just keeps adding more projects and things we have to do that have nothing to do with the actual show. About a month ago he told all the bands that we now have to post all the lyrics to every single song we sing on the company website, and I was assigned that project. So I had a week to search the internet for the lyrics, copy them into a Word document, and then underline in every song where the background vocals are. Such a blast. And now we have a new project, we have to fill out a form for each song we sing and write every move we do in the song, any extra words we say, and how we start and end each song. What is the point of that? And supposedly he's going to Skype call us each at random times and quiz us about our songs. He's also going to quiz us on dance moves like the Cha Cha and stuff on Skype! I don't understand, and what happens if we fail the quiz, we get fired? Well dang it! I kind of love seeing stuff like this happening because it just makes me know even more that I need to get out of here. When they start adding things like this just to take up time that's when you know things are going down hill.
Well enough about that, today has been a pretty good day besides that. We had rehearsal and it went as good as usual, and that's about it! Now hopefully tonight will be packed since it's the weekend here! Woohoo!

Days Gone By

I know there has been a big gap between last post and this one but for a few days last week the blogger was down and it wouldn't let me post so I had a good excuse! Anyway things are going good, feeling happy and getting more excited with every day that passes. I don't know what's coming for me next but I just have a good feeling about the future and I feel really exciting things are heading my way, and if not, I will make them head my way!
The shows were pretty great last weekend, even Friday night was good. We had a bunch of people from the British Navy so the club was pretty packed and they were a fun audience. Thursday night was good as usual too, it was so crowded and extremely hot but it was worth it to have such a good crowd. I think we are losing part of our crowd during the week because of the heat but I also think we're losing part of our crowd to one of the new bands at another club because they are better than the previous band. I also found out that the band from the UK that we all went and watched a few weeks ago might be going home early. I guess the manager of their club put them on probation because the sales have gone down so much since they have been there because they are so awful. So they have 2 weeks to try to get better and bring more people in or else they are fired. Now the first thing I thought when I heard that was, "dang why can't that be us?" But in reality I wouldn't want to suck that bad and also as much as I don't love it here I would have no clue what to do with myself if I came home this early! So I'm glad we are doing as well as we are.
What else....well my day off yesterday was pretty good too. Trina and I went to this mall called City Center. It's a lot like the malls in Malaysia, same layout and stuff but not as big. I didn't buy anything but it was fun to get out and just go shopping for awhile. Then I watched a few movies and went to bed at like 1 am which is really early for me, but I slept so good! And that basically sums up my week!

Ahhh Cold Air

First of all I hope all the mom's out there had a great Mother's Day and got to just relax and have a really nice day, even though I heard the weather wasn't too great.
In other news a miracle happened, they actually came and fixed my air conditioner today! I can't believe they came so fast! Now I can sleep at night and not wake up dripping with sweat, it will be so much nicer! Although I don't know if I'll ever get the scent of the man that fixed it out of my room. It's really weird, half the people here don't believe in wearing deodorant and smelling good and then other half over do it and walk around with a cloud of cologne around them. It's probably one of my least favorite things about this place. No matter where you go you will always smell something extremely strong....yikes. But I'm just glad it's fixed.
My day off was basically uneventful, watched some TV shows and movies and just lounged around all day long. There's not really anything else to do so I guess it was a pretty great day.
Last night at the club was pretty slow again, hopefully I'll get used to that, but I don't know if I ever will. By the last set we did have a few people dancing though so at least that part was good. I think that's about it for now. Happy Monday.

Birthday!

Just had to get a post on here for my sis Kat, it's her birthday today, well by the time you all read this it will probably be Friday so it's kind of belated. I don't even think she reads this anyway but Happy Birthday Kat! I seriously can't believe you're 16! Whoa, kinda freaks me out, but I love you and I hope your party is awesome!
Now to other news, luckily the club got a little bit busier for the weekend. Wednesday night it didn't get busy until our last set, but I was still thankful for that and then Thursday, tonight, it was so packed! It was a great night tonight, I am just hoping that it will stay like this at least for the weekends, I would be so happy!
Hmm....besides that the temperature is still rising daily. It's getting so hot and humid! And to top that off my air conditioner in my room isn't working. So now I'll have to call and ask them to come fix it, then just hope they come faster than two weeks which is how long they usually take! But at least it still blows air like a fan so that helps a little so I'll be OK. I'm pretty sure that's all I've got for now. Happy Friday everyone!

Empty Club

The title pretty much says it all. OK it hasn't literally been empty but it's been very small crowds since May 1st. There's an outdoor restaurant above the club that they just closed for the summer because it's too hot and I think that has really affected our crowds. A lot of people used to come down and watch us after eating up there. I'm just hoping that the weekend days will still be crowded but we'll soon find out tomorrow and Thursday! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I was talking to some of the staff in the club and they said it will probably stay slow for the rest of the summer because once it starts getting hot people don't want to go out as much and foreigners don't want to travel here in the heat. The hotel was down to 55% occupancy which is the lowest it's been since we've been here too, so I think that has also had an impact. Luckily though the days haven't really been dragging so that's been nice. Even though time seems to go slow every day I really can't believe it's already May! I love that!
Besides that everything else is going normally. We're rehearsing 3 new songs tomorrow, 2 for me and 1 for Trina. I love one of my songs, Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. But the other one I'm not too fond of, The Time by Black Eyed Peas, it's not my favorite but oh well. Hmmm....I think that's all the news I have for now! Happy Wednesday!
