Video Friday

I thought since I never have much to write about these days I would post another video from Vietnam. Those live recordings that I wrote about a couple posts ago aren't really working out, most of them sound horrendous because of the way JD recorded them and the few that do sound good it won't let me post them. So instead I'll post some more of these, I kind of forgot about them, but here's another new one for you all. In this one you can kind of see the crowd dancing, it must have been a Friday or Saturday night!
Things here are still going normal. All I can say is thank goodness for all these websites that let you watch TV shows online. I have so many shows I can watch and it takes up so much of my time so at least I have that! It's still getting hotter by the day, so that's fun too. This week was an easy week because I didn't really have a new song to learn. Next week I have two so I guess it would have been easier just to even them out and given me one this week, but who know how his mind works when he's doing the rehearsal schedule. Oh well. I think that's about it for now, happy Friday everyone, you're weekend is just starting and mine is just ending, how weird.

Temperature Rising

Just like the title states, it's getting so hot! I made the text orange just so I could get my point across, it's not to the red level yet, but it's getting there. I know I shouldn't even mention the heat yet because summer hasn't even come close to starting but I can't help it. Yesterday when I was walking to dinner it literally felt like the sun was still out but it had been dark already for like an hour. I have never felt anything like that before, it's like I was feeling heat from the reflection of the moon! I'm getting a little nervous for this summer heat that's coming up, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we all survive it!
Besides the heat, everything is still going smoothly. I used the word smoothly to describe it because I don't want to say good or great because, well, I'm bored out of my mind. But smoothly works well because each day is passing without a hitch, just normal every day stuff. Go to the gym, eat some eggs, watch some shows online, go to the beach, have a nap, go eat dinner, get ready for the show, do the shows, come back and go to bed. That is literally my day every day. Woohoo! I know I shouldn't complain but I am so used to being busy all the time, it's just been hard, this whole thing has been hard. I'm used to having two jobs and barely having time to rest in between so I should be grateful but, what can I say?
Anyway the shows have been good, I'm feeling good as in health-wise, and yeah that's about it! I hope everyone had a great Easter! I'm still sad I missed the egg hunt even though I'm always the worst one and end up with like 3 eggs, I still love it! And I missed searching for my Easter basket! Yes, I know I'm 24 years old but I still look forward to that! Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Kinda Creepy....

This week has seriously felt like a whole month. I don't know why it has gone by so slow but things better pick up or I'm going to go CRAZY!!
The shows were pretty average all week, nothing to exciting or anything. Good crowds, and our new songs for the week went over well again. Oh I did get some good news I think. JD(the band leader) has to record all of our songs to put on the company website for the new members that are going to join after Oman, so I think once he records them I will be able to download them onto my computer and maybe put some on here! They will just be audio but at least you'll be able to hear some more of our songs, so keep your fingers crossed!
Alright now down to the good stuff. So last night it was supposedly one of our good friends at the club's birthday. So at midnight we announced it like we always do and that was that. After the show we all told him happy birthday and he just said thanks. But then come to find out it wasn't his birthday at all, get ready for it, it was his dead ex-girlfriend's birthday. Yeah that's right, his dead ex-girlfriend!?! They brought a cake with her picture on it, and they hired a DJ and planned this whole huge beach party for after the club that night. I guess she's been dead for a few years and he's done this every year since. I mean maybe I'm just insensitive but it seems really odd to me....or just creepy. The part that makes it even weirder is that the girl was married and it was her husband that killed her!!! This seems like a scary story but it's all true! So weird right? I mean yes it seems very morbid but can I just say I'm so glad for stuff like this because it's keeping this place a little bit exciting! That's all for now, Happy Friday!

Same Old

I keep trying to post a lot but it's hard to post when I don't have much to say. There hasn't been too much excitement since my last post. The shows have been good, pretty normal, nothing too crazy.
Ummm...what else...oh I finally feel like I have my whole voice back and I'm not sick with anything so that's a first in a long time!
Also today we had a meeting with the Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel, so it's like our boss's boss. He told us that the revenue in the club is down from this time last year so he wanted ideas from us about how we can bring it up. We told him things that the other clubs had like Ladies Night, Theme Nights, specials on drinks and stuff like that. He told us we are doing a great job and we're getting more people into the club, they just aren't buying anything. I don't know how much we can change that, if people just want to come sit and watch us then that's what they'll do. But we'll see if they make any changes in the club, they still have to all be approved.
Besides that everything is pretty much the same. I'm trying not to count down the days, I have a calendar I mark off but I feel like it's making the time go slower. I think I might hide it for awhile until a few weeks pass then I can open it up and cross off like a whole month, that would feel good! Alright well I hope everyone had a great Monday!

Another Scorcher

I know I keep saying this but tonight now holds the record for the best night we've had so far! Every Thursday just keeps getting better and better! It was so packed even when we first got there. By the second set everyone was dancing and having a great time. I love nights like that, it was so fun! We played our two new songs, What's My Name by Rihanna and OMG by Usher and the crowd loved them. It's always a little nerve racking debuting the new songs each week because you never know if people are going to like them or not. But so far all of our new songs here have gone over great!
So back to my exciting news from last post, I had my meeting with Georges. Now back in Vietnam I had already told him that after Oman I was going to be finished, my contract is up and I am ready to come home. Trina and Andrea were also ending their contracts after Oman too. So in the meeting on Wednesday he asked if I would stay for another contract to go to Thailand after here. He said we would get a month break and then go to Thailand from September to January. I already knew I didn't want to do it the second the words came out of his mouth. Yes, I would love to see Thailand, yes this has been an amazing opportunity, yes I have learned a lot and grown so much, but one contract was enough for me. There were so many great things but right along with that there were so many awful things. I felt bad letting him down because both Trina and Andrea said they would stay, but once my mind is made up it's pretty much made up. I know for myself it's the right decision and I'm ready for a new opportunity. Like I said it would be great to see Thailand and it would be nice to have a guaranteed job for another four months but I wouldn't be happy. So I told him sorry but no I couldn't do it. He said OK and that was that.
Onto other things. It's been really cloudy all week but only rained the one time and it was so little. Now I think the temperature is going to start rising and only get hotter from here. The air conditioner in the club broke again and they said this time it's going to take a couple weeks to fix because they have to order some part from another country. It was SO HOT in the club tonight, it seems like it always happens when it's the most crowded too. But we made it through anyway and it was a great night like I already said. The Other Bands

Things have been going smoothly, just the usual shows, rehearsals, and sitting around. The shows have been pretty good, except for Monday night. It was the worst night we've had as far as the crowd goes. We had about 15 people in the club and then by the last set we had 3. We still had fun on stage of course but it was still kind of a downer.
On Saturday night I went out with everyone to see the new band at one of the other hotels. They were awful. They have a guitar player, a bass player, a drummer, and two singers. All of their songs sound so empty because there's no keyboard or sequence music to play the melody. They are brand new so I was trying not to judge them too harshly but they looked like they had no idea what they were doing at all. One of the singers has an amazing voice but she was so busy fixing her hair and making sure she looked good that she looked really awkward. I'm thinking I'll give them a couple months, then go back and see how much they've improved. After we saw them we went to another hotel and watched another band and they were not so good either. Their performance was OK, they looked like they were having a good time up there but their music was just bad. The singers were off tune, the instruments weren't playing the right things, it was madness. It just makes me wonder how those bands get crowds at all.
Besides that the only other excitment is that I have a meeting with Georges, our company president. It was supposed to be today but they kept pushing it back and then finally just cancelled it, so now I think it's going to be tomorrow. I don't really know what it's about, but once I find out, I'll let you all know!

Hot Hot Hot

I know it's been a few days since I posted, well OK, more like five but there hasn't been too much excitement to write about. This week has been just pretty plain. The shows have been alright, a couple of the nights we had really bad crowds, maybe like 20 people at the most. I know that's going to happen sometimes but it still isn't very fun. Yesterday though, Thursday night, was awesome. We had probably the biggest crowd we have has since we've been here. And by the end of the second set we had the dance floor packed and everyone was having a great time. I hope we'll have at least a few more nights like that before it gets really hot and we have no audience at all.
So a couple nights ago at dinner we were all talking and somehow the subject of our dreams came up. Ever since I've been here I have had the weirdest and most real dreams I have ever had. I was telling everyone about it and then they all said that they have had the same thing. We are all having crazy dreams and when we wake up we all have to check ourselves to figure out if they were real or not. I don't know what's causing it, the food maybe, deep sleep, the sea air? Who knows, but it's odd that it's happening to all of us.
Going back to last night, even though it was a great show, it was also pretty miserable. The air conditioner was broken in the club so it was freaking hot. We were all sweating buckets and wondering what was up then found out about the air conditioning. Even the people in the crowd that were dancing were sweating. It was so uncomfortable. I'm really hoping it's fixed soon, but with how slowly they work on things here I'm not counting on it.

New Month

Woohoo, It's already April! It definitely feels like we've been here for a month or longer but at the same time it's kind of going fast too so that's a good thing! Only 4 more months, 120 - ish days, or 16 weeks, that's my favorite one, it makes it sound shorter.
First of all I just need to say Happy Birthday to my bro, Trav(Shash). I hope it's great even though I'm not there to celebrate and go to Mexican Joint with you guys:( .
The last few days have been alright, the shows were pretty good. The crowds were alright, not too big, not too small. And that's that. This week I get to learn a new song by Bruno Mars called Grenade, I'm sure some of you have heard it. I freaking love the song so I'm actually really excited about learning this one. It's not too often that I get excited about my new songs, but this one I am.
This past Saturday, our day off, I didn't do much. Pretty much just watched movies and rested, that's what I do every day off, it's quite nice. Then Trina cooked some food and it was delicious. I shouldn't have watched her cook though because so many things were kinda scary. She was using the same knife and plate that she cut raw chicken on to cut up a bunch of other stuff. I tried to tell her that's not safe but she said in her country they don't believe that. She thinks I have no idea how to cook so she was telling me all sorts of stuff that I just wanted to correct her on but I knew it would have just been a lost argument with her. Then before she put the pan of chicken in the oven to cook she wiped her finger across a piece of the raw chicken to taste the sauce on it! Ahhhh!!! Raw Chicken!!! Sick, sick, sick. So that was quite the adventure.
